This course is aimed at all employees from any sector and provides grounding in the essentials of health and safety. IOSH Working Safely is a certificated course introducing a completely new approach to health and safety training and offers all the basics in a high impact interactive package.

Objectives

By the end of the course participants will be able to:·

Carry out work activities without risk to themselves or others and understand the consequences to both the individual and their organisation if they fail to work safely·
Identify hazards, risks and risks controls and understand the importance of risk assessment with examples of everyday use of risk assessment·
Understand how to take appropriate workplace precautions and their importance in the working environment·
Appreciate the importance of a health and safety management system·
Identify lines of communication with respect to health and safety in their place of work·
Identify safety signs and signals·
Understand emergency, accident plans and procedures and how and who to report accidents, incidents and near misses to, in their place of work·
Recognise how industry affects the environment and how individuals can minimise pollution and waste

Course content

Five Modules·

Module 1 - Introducing working safely
Covers the statistics and emphasised the importance of individual responsibility·
Module 2 - Defining hazard and risk
Covers hazards and risks within workplaces.·
Module 3 - Identifying common hazards
Covers examples of access, bullying, chemicals, electricity, fire, manual handling, noise, work traffic, physical and verbal abuse, stress and slips trips and falls·
Module 4 - Improving safety performance
Covers the systems and processes which are used and examples are contractor work, emergency procedures, health checks, inspections, permits to work, personal protective equipment, safe systems of work, reporting processes and signage·
Module 5 - Protecting our environment
A brief overview of waste and pollution with support from key facts and figures.

Assessment ·

Includes two written papers consisting of one multiple choice and one for the identification of hazards

Certification·

On successful completion of the IOSH Working Safely course and assessments, delegates will receive an IOSH Accredited Certificate
