Shorthand is not necessary for this course.

Delegates are asked to bring along examples of meeting minutes they have taken to help apply skills and techniques to their own format/style.These minutes will be treated with confidentiality.

  • Listening actively and maintaining your concentration levels
  • Identifying relevant points from a discussion

Methods of Note Taking

  • Discussing the pros and cons of various methods
  • Choosing the most appropriate method for the type of minute required
  • Getting notes down in a manageable format

 Writing the Minutes

  • Following conventions of layout and house style
  • Avoiding the most common mistakes in grammar, spelling, punctuation, tense and vocabulary
  • Structuring the minutes
