Suitable For

This course is designed for developers looking to gain specific skills in Oracle.  Some knowledge of SQL and of relational databases in general will be assumed, possibly gained from attendance on the ‘SQL Foundation’ course.

Programming experience using a procedural or object-oriented language would be advantageous.

Objectives

By the end of the course participants will be able to:·

  • Evaluate a development environment for a given need.·
  • Use a development environment for the production of SQL queries and PL/SQL procedures.·
  • Integrate appropriate Oracle SQL functions within a solution.
  • Build efficient queries using commonly-used techniques and advanced Oracle SQL features.·
  • Use a procedural language, such as PL/SQL or Java, to develop database applications.·
  • Write applications using PL/SQL·
  • Perform simple database administration tasks such as creating schemas, allocating privileges and making backups.

The learning process is very much ’hands-on’.  Participants  will use an Oracle database to practice the essentials presented during the course.
