The APMP Accreditation + Exam (IPMA Level D) Course is for anyone substantially involved in project activity at supervisory and management levels, including work package managers, team leaders, project managers, programme managers and project executives and sponsors.

The APMP qualification is awarded by the UK's Association for Project Management to candidates who demonstrate a professional level of understanding in project management methods through rigorous examination. Assessment involves one three hour written essay-based paper. It is a well established baseline qualification which addresses key aspects of effective project management and is widely recognised throughout business and industry. Achieving the qualification provides external credibility for organisations and project management staff. It also provides an entry route into APM membership, and access to the latest project management best practices and continuous developments.
Candidates with this qualification will be able to demonstrate an understanding of how project management elements interact. They will also be able to understand how their project fits into their strategic and commercial environment.
The course is designed to achieve three complementary objectives:
The APMP syllabus is wide ranging and covers all key areas of project management including Project Initiation, Planning, Control and People aspects. It addresses the full project life cycle including stage gate and risk management. Key topics include:
Project Context - the business context, success criteria and factors, programme and portfolio management, governance of projects, project life cycle, organisational structures.
Project Concept - requirements management, business case, benefits management.
Project Definition - leadership and team work, conflict management and negotiations, the Project Management Plan, quality management, risk management, health safety and environmental management, scope definition and planning, schedule and resource planning, cost planning and estimating, procurement.
Project Implementation and Handover - project control, schedule and cost control, change & configuration management, handover and close out,
The course involves advanced self study preparation through well proven case study assignments (24 hours), face to face induction and coaching (4 days), and final exam preparation (self study 12 hours). Comprehensive course manuals and revision guides are provided including the APM Body of Knowledge publication. The exam is usually taken one week after the coaching event.
